    Solar Bear Theatre Company

Solar Bear is a theatre company that does things differently. Inclusion and collaboration are at the heart of our mission. We work with deaf and hearing actors, theatre makers, artists and young people. We reach out to those often excluded from the arts. Working more inclusively and collaboratively makes us think in radically different ways. It shapes who we work with. It inspires us to play with new ways of storytelling. It influences the stories we tell, and where and how we tell them.

    Hello

Hi, I am really delighted to have joined this forum. I am currently waiting on EV assessment for my NVQ Level 6 portfolio and have put in applications for Interpreter training for the new year. I work as a freelance Communication Support Worker mostly within FH/HE settings. I previously have worked for Graeae Theatre Company and am currently contracted 2 days a week as the Community Engagement Manager for Solar Bear, a theatre company based in Glasgow that supports Deaf practitioners. Solar Bear runs the UK's only year round Deaf Youth Theatre and in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire Scotland we run a weekly Life Long Learning course called Deaf Performance Skills & the BA Performance which is taught in BSL & English. https://solarbear.org.uk/ https://www.rcs.ac.uk/short-courses/deaf-performance-skills/ https://www.rcs.ac.uk/courses/ba-performance/
  4. Solar Bear has a new production touring Scotland in Autumn 2019. The production is created for and by Deaf & Hearing Young People age 12-18yrs, working with a professional team of theatre makers. The production is touring to schools in Glasgow, Dingwall, Dundee & Irvine. The final week will take place at Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling between 14th - 18th October and will be open to the public as the schools are on holiday.
