I haven't made it to any of the online sessions yet as I'm a single parent to a very active 3-year-old who likes to make a lot of noise, but I hope I can make it on the 25th! It will depend on my work as well (I'm self-employed, so when I get the chance, I work myself into the ground in the constant fear that it'll suddenly dry up!), but I really want to make time for a bit of practice with other BSL beginners if I possibly can!

Hi everyone, sorry I ended up not making it to the session yesterday - I'm a single mumsie and couldn't get a second without my little lady running around me lol. Hopefully next time! :D

Sorry I was out all Saturday last week and out this afternoon too, but NEXT Saturday going to be in and joining the chat (or watching in awe of some of you folks and humbled by my fingerspelling 😔🤣)!

Hope you’re all keeping well despite the pandemic, and current heatwave (which I’m loving!).

Hey Everyone! Just so you are all aware. The meetings are still occurring on Saturday 2pm every week.

Even though there is no scheduled session written above, they are still continuing.

Thank you for all those that have made them and continue to do so.

Happy signing

Morning folks. Been out of the picture for a while as been busy with prepping for our new arrival which is at the end of this month. How are the practice sessions going? Are they still running?

Not sure when I will be back but hopefully I'll be back soon. Currently juggling work, health and a preggers wife along with trying to learn Level 1 BSL 😅

Hope to see you all soon :)

Excellent session tonight @Den. Thank you to those that participated. Covered questions structured not covered in the course and basic finger-spelling- in order to get more familiar and much more faster.

Yes indeed - thanks for having me along @Usayd Islam Tariq.  Hoping to join you tomorrow if commitments allow!

    • I work within a Learning Support Service in a College local to me. We occasionally get students with hearing impairments, and one or two have used BSL. Sheer frustration at not being able to communicate effectively with these students has led me to spend the Summer recess starting to learn BSL. I won't be expert by the time the students come back, but at least I might be able to have simple conversations with those who use BSL and develop my skills as I go along.
    • I’m learning BSL online with the Introduction to BSL course. I’ve always wanted to learn it (I’ve known fingerspelling since my teens). But since the documentary with Rose Ayling-Ellis, and taking to a fundraiser at Manchester Victoria, I think everyone should learn BSL. Some of my relatives and friends are slightly hard of hearing, my voice isn’t loud, and it can be hard to communicate in noisy environments. I don’t want to be left with no way of communicating when I’m old. And I want to make spaces like church more inclusive. So, if anyone has resources for signing worship songs, that would be great!
    • Hi. Online learner with the Introduction to BSL course, tentatively peeping out at the world. I haven’t learned that much yet.
    • Our next intake of students will be in September 2026. This will be for British Sign Language (BSL) Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6. All courses are taught by deaf, native BSL users. Both online and face-to-face courses (Central London, SE1 6FE) available. For more details, see our website - https://www.teachmesign.co.uk - and if you would like further details about any of the courses, then please email [email protected] with your preferred start date so that they can send you the correct course information guide. We very much hope you will join us! 😊
