  1. Introduction! New to ASL Old to SEE

<<VIDEO>> My name is Stephanie, I live in Alaska now, and am in University there. I work in the summer in SE Alaska (Petersburg) as a biologist, but go to school up in Fairbanks during fall and spring for my graduate program in marine biology. Winter I make sure to spend my time traveling as much as I can. The world is such a beautiful and amazing place it seems a shame to not explore it. I grew up with a deaf best friend, but being a rural community with no access to ASL and growing up in a hearing family, he learned SEE (Signed Exact English). I picked it up fast, took a few classes when I was older, but now he is learning ASL so I figured I would too. My dad and younger brother are deaf due to a virus now and learning ASL. Being in rural Alaska the deaf community does not have many translator options so it is always good to have the skills to help out when you can. My signing ability is pretty mixed, PSE and SEE being advanced, but then being really slow at ASL. I'm not taking classes at this time, so really need people to be able to video chat and practice my ASL with. Hope I can find some people on the online community to sign with and expand my skillset and meet some cool people, of course! Let me know if you are out there! -Stephanie: [email protected]
  2. Introduce Myself : Damien Constantin

Hi everybody, my name is Damien, I am French and started to learn ASL alone with Professor Bill Vicars' video. (Is this French guy lost?) Well nope, I hope to learn more about Deaf/ Hard-Of-Hearing Culture even though I am hearing. I can't only learn by heart, I am eager to live/use this language . Keep in mind [is this the right word??] the time gap between France and where you live, but I hope it won't stop us from learning together... Have a nice day and maybe see you soon !!!

  4. Hey guys! My name is Skylar, I am looking for people who are interested in practicing ASL. I am a first year ASL student; however, I learned ASL previously from a deaf friend. My dream is to become and interpreter or do anything regarding ASL. I am currently a Psychology major but as I progress more into my ASL class and meet more deaf people I realize how much I really want to change that and possibly switch schools. I love the language and want to perfect my techniques. Any one interested please message me. I would love to share practice and experiences. I have Skype and FT. I could also download Oovoo if that works for other people. Please just let me know. Thank you guys!!
  5. ASL Practice

Hi! I'm looking to practice ASL. I am hearing and this is my first semester taking ASL. I am a Music Therapy major, though I am considering being an ASL translator on the side. ASL is my "10,000 hours", so I plan on practicing as much as I can. I'll be here occasionally just sitting in a chat room and anyone can join while I'm here! I live in California, so I'm on Pacific time. Don't be afraid to jump in if you see me!
