    • I started this course 2 weeks ago! A real beginner 😀
    • Hello. The "what" is merely used due to BSL’s topic–comment grammar. Some signers respond with "name me what" to mirror a question that may have been asked (especially if someone wants to know something, such as a name or an age) or to add emphasis on what is about to fingerspelled. In an everyday conversation, or an informal setting, the "what" doesn't have to be included. Hope this helps!

    • My name is Michael. I am 63 and have been to too many concerts! Result... profoundly deaf in left ear and hard of hearing in right ear. I don't know anyone who signs but given that my hearing is gradually deteriorated it's only time b4 I lose it I think. I'm encountering the usual feelings of isolation and exclusion so that I'd learn sign language to prepare myself. Practice makes perfect I hope.
