  6. At university I studied Fine Art, and my practice was primarily centered around notions of the body. In particular, the importance of touch and physical communication fascinated me. I believe this is why studying BSL recently has felt such a joy for me; something directly in keeping with the concepts I was excited to explore during my degree. Since graduating, I started my first full-time job in September as a Learning Support Assistant in a local secondary school's Hearing Impaired Resource Base. I can safely say that I have loved working with the students so far, as well as among colleagues whose communication skills I admire such as ToDs and interpreters. Thanks to this job and the influence of those I work with, I've gained a newfound enthusiasm to really practice my BSL (and hopefully, one day, become proficient at it!). ☺️ ~ Amy

  10. Hello everyone I hope everyone is doing well. I usually host meeting on Saturday 2pm with various other users on this site. Come and join. A few weeks ago we covered questions and and how to sign them. We went over: whats, whos, wheres, why, etc. After we discussed the questions and tried to figure out how to phrase them I noted them all down. My best friend uses BSL on a day to day basis (scottish bsl) but he has volunteered to aid me and answer any question I have in terms of signing and phrasing. So once we finished our session I had him proof read what we covered and the next session we covered it to provide some sense and understanding to use on our day to day learning BSL. Attached are those notes and questions. Hopefully quality is decent. And you can read my handwriting. If not let me know and I will type it up. 11. Hi, my name is Julia. I'm a 43 year old 1:1 teaching assistant. I'm also a mum to 2 wonderful kids, 1 of which is diagnosed ASC and at a special school. About 3½ yrs ago I attended a signalong course to help my sons communication. I really enjoyed the course. I signed up for this during lockdown and thought it would be another great extension to my SEN story.

  13. Hello 😁 My name is Nicholas Bieber (no, I'm not related to Justin Bieber, ha!), I'm 25-years-old and I have moderate hearing loss. I have to wear hearing aids every day, but fortunately I can hear with them, and they have enabled me to mix with fully hearing people and enjoy my career as a journalist. Sadly though, for so many people this is not the case 💔 Many, like my grandparents, are fully deaf and will never get to experience the special emotions that come with listening to music 😔 So I've done something special (I hope)! 🎶📹 I learned British Sign Language as a young boy, so I could comminicate with my grandparents, and ended up getting a qualification in it (in levels 1 and 2). I have now started a special YouTube channel where I interpret songs into sign language! For my second video (link posted after this sentence), I performed the incredible Lost Without You by Freya Ridings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQaT8sI1EsE&feature=youtu.be I'd be SO honoured and grateful if you could share this with your friends and family, and in doing so, helping me to raise awareness of this beautiful language. I feel sign language should be a compulsory subject in schools, as it is just as important as learning Spanish, French and German. So let's help achieve that! 😁 Thank you 😊 Nicholas Bieber Twitter: @nickbieber https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChgIoos70jvkhzQnGy1TSkw

Could you please suggest me any platform where I can look at or anyone who could be interested in participating in an artwork. It will be a nice experience for anyone who would fancy to be the main character of a video work. Unfortunately I will not be able to provide a retribution but lunch and coffee will be on me. Also there is no age restriction for the project. Thank you in advance Antonio
